FATHER, DAUGHTER GUILTY OF FELONY INCEST-BIOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES OF INCEST

Why should mechanisms to avoid incest be so widespread both in nature and across human societies? The answer is simple. The problem with having sex close with relatives is that there is an astonishingly high chance that your offspring will be born with a serious birth defect.

The odds that a newborn child who is the product of brother-sister or father-daughter incest will suffer an early death, a severe birth defect or some mental deficiency approaches 50 percent.

Incest is a taboo in most cultures in the world with very few exceptions. Incest of any form should be condemned by all because of the long lasting psychological and biological repercussions.

Nearly everyone is repelled by the prospect of brother-sister sex/mother-son sex/or father- daughter sex (Jonathan Haidt) .

I found this daughter –father consensual sexual relationship somewhat …..Well, you make something out of it after reading their story.

An Oregon woman who had an illegal relationship with her biological father will spend 10 days in
jail.
Chalena Moody, 25, (left)
Chalena Moody, 25, pleaded guilty to felony incest after police became aware that she and her biological father were in a consensual relationship that had produced two children, according to The Register Guard.

The state has taken custody of both children, who were born with "severe mental and physical impairments," ABC affiliate KEZI-TV reports.
Eric Lee Gates, 49, (right) both pleaded guilty to felony incest

"Issues With The Children"

"There's issues with the children, and they've been put into foster care," said Sgt. Dave Lewis with Springfield Police. "It's not a good situation all around."

Moody's father, Eric Lee Gates, 49, was sentenced to the same 10 day sentence for felony incest back in January. He's currently back in jail for violating his probation by having contact with his daughter after the first sentence ended.

Oregon law defines felony incest when "the person marries or engages in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual intercourse with a person whom the person knows to be related to the person, either legitimately or illegitimately, as an ancestor, descendant or brother or sister of either the whole or half blood."-credits ;ABC News.
The Biological Cost of Incest/Consanguineous Relationships
Take the results of a study of Czechoslovakian children whose fathers were first degree relatives.
  • 40% of them were born with severe birth defects or suffered early death
  • 11% were mildly mentally impaired
  •  This study is particularly instructive as it included a unique control group — the offspring of the same mothers but whose fathers were not the mothers’ relatives.
  •  When the same women were impregnated by a non-relative, only 7 percent of their children were born with a birth defect.
A group of genetic counselors reviewed the research on the biological consequences of sex between relatives.
  • They found a surprisingly small increase (about 4%) in birth defects among the children of married cousins.
  • 40% of the children born by first degree relatives were with either autosomal recessive disorders, congenital physical malformations, or severe intellectual deficits.
  • And another 14 percent of them had mild mental disabilities.(Credits; Hal Herzog, Ph.D.

We can observe from the above research that the problem with having sex close with relatives is that there is an astonishingly high chance that your offspring will be born with a serious birth defect. So any form of incest should be discouraged because of the psychological and biological consequences.
